Vintage Postcards with Street View
Postcards Then and Now is an interesting collection of vintage postcards whose depicted views are compared to the same view as seen now by Google Maps Street View.
The postcards are from the early 20th century and nearly all of them are postcards from England. The site itself uses a simple implementation of Google Maps, using the embed option from the main Google Maps site, rather than using the Google Maps API. However it is no less interesting for that.
The site can run a little slow because it is loading a few embedded Google Maps on each page. If I was the user I would be tempted to use the Google Street View Image API rather than the Google Maps embed code to provide the Street View images of the modern view. That would speed up page loads incredibly.
