Google Maps driving directions for Australia, New Zealand

Update (Feb.6/07): The Official Google Blog - Google Maps down under

Google Maps has added two valuable features today for users in Australia and New Zealand: Driving Directions and Business Search:

The "Get Directions" feature is available for both Australia and New Zealand roads and streets while "Find Businesses" is available only for Australia.

Google is also releasing Google Maps for Mobile to mobile users in this region today, making the availability of local business search and directions that much more useful while out and about.

The data for Melbourne is just about useless. The directions include freeway exits that don't exist, and the map shows the Deer Park bypass, which won't be finished until 2009!

It will even try to send you over the Miller St tram bridge if you put in the right endpoints.

Sorry - I was updating posts to add Blogger labels so this might have arrived to you as a new post, not one being updated.

Sorry for the confusion! :)
