The innovations in video and image mashups continue! EarthAlbum comes alive as an innovative and interesting way to browse Flickr pics or YouTube vids using a Google Maps interface. To check it out view the Flickr or YouTube versions of the site. You can quickly change between the two via a link at the top right of the screen.
To view pictures or videos, simply tap on a country to reveal a filmstrip view of the images and videos that are available for that country. Click on the thumbnail and the video starts playing right on the map. You never leave the map interface as you browse and view videos. You can filter by keyword or select "mountain, city or food" as some pre-selected word filters. Select food, then start grabbing at countries on the map. Fortune magazine recently reported that YouTube is selling homepage placement for $175,000 per day. You got that right - it's per day. That home page costs mucho mulah. From that homepage ad alone, YouTube is making major profits.
In fact, extrapolating that to 365 days with simply multiplication, YouTube is making:
$175,000 X 365 = $63,875,000 million in annual revenues

Your site is great. Has lot of information on use of google maps.
I have created a very simple HTML base photo album integrated with Google Maps.You can share your photo and the place where it was taken on a map. I tried to make it as straightforward I could. There is only a single XML file a user has to edit to use this album.
