Google Maps Satellite Imagery Update

:
Can you see your house from here.. now?

Frank Taylor over at the Google Earth Blog has the scoop on a Google Maps satellite update that he has posted about. Here is a summary of locations that have seen updates:
James from GoogleSightseeing confirms Maps API V.2 has these updates for those of you who are creating and using Google Maps mashups. Sites like Wikimapia and my list of "Collections" sites should now have an even closer look at some world locations. Update (Sept.10/06: The Google Earth Blog reports that this imagery is now available for viewing in Google Earth)

What about your area? Take a look, then post a comment
if your region now has high resolution satellite imagery, but did not previously!

Downtown areas of Olympia, Washington have gotten high-resolution where they weren't before. (I can see my house now!)

The new imagery is appearing in the API (judging by those first 2 links)...

I can't confirm any new data for the Olympia, WA area when comparing to Google Earth. Can you be more specific? Maybe what you are seeing was part of the June update?

Japan now includes detail around Lake Ashi - including the ferry boat but not detailed enough to see the nude bathers in Mori-no-yu hot-spring - see photo.
I think there's also a large area around Shizuoka which is new, showing the new Tomei Expressway under construction.

Thanks for this blog.

FYI the correct spelling is BANGOR not BANGHOR

I figured since we need to know the site names spelled correctly you may want to just edit it.

I am not picking on you, I am not one of the Spelling Police. LOL.

Oddly enough, Google Maps does not have the new hi-res satellite images of Guayaquil, Ecuador, that Google Earth does have. Now I can see my house in Google Earth!

The imagery resolution in Sindangan town in Zamboanga is not clear. Is there a plan to update the resolution so that my people in our town will be happy or at least can see their houses in the web. ( hope to consider my request besides, the area is not too big)
Lat - 8-deg 13'57.49"N
Long - 122-deg 59'57.95"E

Lancaster in the UK is completly out of date - there are buildings over three years old still not being displayed, including my house. I can't understand why they don't update it.

How to request Google to update their map to the current?

Rosario City in Argentina is the second city in the country. Yet its imagery in Google Earth is the worst in the world. An awful comfination of high resolution (1/3 of the area), low resolution (1/5 of the area) and some resolution covered by a compact mass of clouds makes the whole thing look like the character impersonated by Boris Karloff: Frankenstein's Monster. And it's been like that for a long time now. Any idea of an extreme make up for that poor city of mine?

Best wishes. Sasum

Looking at two wildly different points on Earth, I was absolutely gobsmacked to see a street scape of my first flat at 49 Brown Street, Dunedin, New Zealand, and no appearance of the first new bridge over the river Cam, Cambridge, England, in 40 years....I remain amazed by Google maps, and always refer to it...Keep up the good work!

P.S Cambridge, England could do with being updated!

Kind regards,

lfgc - I'm afraid I have nothing to do with Google or Google Maps.

You might find this post on the Google Earth Blog about Google's satellite imagery informative.

I would like to request high resolution update to this part of Bogra, Bangladesh. It's a very popular, industrial and historical district of the country. There are so many roads and buildings which are not there in the map since it's too backdated.
