Chicago transit map mashes up with Google Local

Here is yet another Chicago Transit mashup that is similar to one I mentioned last week. The difference with this mashup is that it allows you to explore the neighborhoods surrounding the station stop for Bars, Chinese Restaurants, Coffee and Pizza!

..Once you have selected which shop-type you wish to explore, it opens the results up in Google Local:

If you have created a transit mashup and you are looking for a feature addition to add to it, marrying the station stops with information about the surrounding area, using a quick link to Google Local, would be a quick and easy addition!

Thanks for the link. I'll add a couple of things that I did that I think are also of use: First, I spent MANY painstaking hours plotting points along the train tracks so that each colored line matches what you'd expect to see when you switch to satellite view and zoom in all the way. Take a look at the Brown Line XML file, for instance. This looks much better than just connecting the dots. Second, when you click on a station and the infoWindow opens you can click on the colored line next to Lines/Schedule to get the station's official schedule (PDF only) from the CTA's website.

And obviously, one could add even more quick links for the Google local dropdown list.

If anyone has any questions about what I did stop by and ask.
