I've got a google map idea, but I could use some help figuring out how to do it.

First of all we need some better intro tutorials for people like me who are just starting the hacking process.

Now for my map idea, I need it to do two things.

1) I'd like it to function like a wiki, where anyone can come in and change the look of it.

2) I want it to have a simple toolbar where you can highlight each street on a city map with either green, yellow, or red.

That's all I want it to do, but I don't even know where to start. Help anyone?

Dude... how's about this for an idea...(mine that is)

if one types into a search engine (Google, Jeeves, Yahoo, msn,(not in ANY order...) X:map:amazon or X:map:danube or X:map usia and an image comes up at 600x800 or 1024x768 or whatever resolution, then one can save alot of time simple because od the amount of rendering necessary... maybe?...
