Great Google Maps plugin for bloggers!

Here is a great Google Maps plugin created with the Google Maps API that can geolocate visitors to your blog and plot it on a nifty little Google Map for them! Head over to this blog to see it in action. The plugin geolocates the user via the whois data that is attached to their ip address. For comprehensive instructions on setting this up on your blog and a link to download the plugin itself, check here. Even if you don't have a blog or want to set it up, be sure to check out this blog to see how accurate it is for your location!

Here is a screenshot:

I checked the Rob A's blog and it did not locate me correctly at all. I am in Bratislava, Slovakia while the blog said I was in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which is quite far from here...strange.

Well, that's not nearly as far off as the distance between Nashville, TN (where I am), and AUSTRAILIA, which is where it said it located me.

The lookup is currently done using the NetGEO data which, according to their site:
...Please be warned that NetGeo may give wildly incorrect results, especially for recently allocated or re-assigned IP addresses....
I am currently looking at other free alternatives, like hostip.info but there are alot of holes in their data, too. I haven't found a comprehensive free IP to location lookup yet.
